Hide and Seek - The children yearn for the mines
by sebastian
Winners read the description! Since attention spans get shorter every day, I'll try to put the important information first, such as... ...recommendations for best enjoyment of the map: - Classic hide and seek (sardines & tag possible, but not designed around the concepts) - Audio hints every 1min - Verbal hints after 5min (going by challenge timer, this may seem early, but is by design due to the fact that the map offers several ways to troll the seeker with audio hints) - Don't destroy objects. If I didn't mess up, the only destructibles in this map should be wires and posters and while you can't break the map if you destroy them, they're there for a reason, unless you are utterly stuck inside them - I tried hard to make it impossible, but if you make it outside of the confines of the map, you are officially hiding in the wrong place, even if your name is Scrapman ;P - The big green switch starts the challenge (only after the countdown however, so don't panic if it doesn't start right away) - The small red button is to reset the lever that warns you when not to touch the big green start switch. Only use this, if it is stuck in its down position when loading the map - The end challenge switch could not be more obvious if I tried, while also being hidden in probably the hardest hiding spot, so feel free to mock anyone who triggers it accidentaly. - Most spots are stuck-proof for anyone with more than one braincell, any remaining critical spots have been marked with signs accordingly, so be smart and stand in safe places when operating switches ...map information tldr: - 63 switch spots - ca. 100hrs of work put into this map - this is my first map, so forgive the possibly strange use of logic etc. If I haven't lost you yet, then let me first congratulate you for making it this far into the description, you can now truly call yourself a winner ;) Secondly, if you're still interested in reading, here's some more information: The map can be roughly split into the following sections: - Overworld (7 switch spots) - Basement Level 1 - Office (6 switch spots) - Basement Level 1 - Construction (8 switch spots) - Basement Level 1 - Cave (6 switch spots) - Basement Level 2 - Storage (9 switch spots) - Basement Level 2 - Mine (9 switch spots) - Basement Level 3 - Skull (5 switch spots) - Basement Level 3 - Rib cage (8 switch spots) - Hallways and others (5 switch spots) I tried to make them of varying difficulty to find, such that there is "OP" spots as well as "Gimme" spots, but the map makers curse may well have skewed my perspective, so I would very much welcome some feedback. Usually it should not be too hard to notice, what any given switch does. Switches that activate spots out of view are accompanied with audio or visual hints to guide you towards them. If all else fails, I have also created a full list of all spots with descriptions of how to get to them in this document: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Kd9zQMGFz-f-W0i9t-08MGKVznZwPbdiXoh-CZ_hqXU/edit?usp=drive_link As mentioned before this is my first map, but more than that I've really not played the game beyond the creation of this map at all, barring a couple minutes spent in a test map and walking around some other hide and seek maps from the workshop to learn from how they do things. My main interest in this game comes from watching youtube videos about it. If you found this map you probably know the Multiplayer Monday gang, suffice it to say, they got me hooked on hide and seek. Since my friends are neither into this game nor this gamemode, I figured why not just build a map instead, with any luck I might at least get to see other people enjoy it. This all goes to say that I am in no way familiar with a lot of the Scrapmechanic gimmicks, but I did my best to research everything I needed, so I hope it turned out OK. Since I am alone, I also had no way of testing the map online before hand and since my PC is pretty beefy I don't know how laggy the map is. But I tried my best to keep jumping based spots to a minimum and easy enough to reach, so if you are attempting a hard parkour, you're probably missing a switch or two to help you out, or simply going in the wrong direction. Enough said, I hope you enjoy the map!
