ScrapGate: SG-Mechanic
by Wellvet
As the name suggests, this is a map inspired by the Stargate series I started working on believe it or not seven months ago. The original idea of Hide and Seek map has undergone several changes and now ScrapGate is an adventure map, or in a sense an escape room. You will travel the planets, looking for ways to get to the next, uncovering the secrets of the gates and the universe. WHAT THE CHALLENGE HAS TO OFFER? [* Seven quite different planets - including Earth/Tau‘ri/Midgard😉 [* Tons of puzzles [* Scavenger hunt stretching across the Milky Way [* Death [* Fun (More precisely, at least a whole 30 min of fun - my time knowing all the ins and outs of the map [* The Secret of the Universe at the end. START/MAP OBJECTIVE [* You are a member of an SG-Mechanic team - you can play solo or form a full team of four. I think two might be ideal number. However, I don't know how the map will hold up in mulitiplayer. [* Hit the starter switch and that's it - you're ready to go. Oh, and don't forget the hammer and spudgun - you'll need both. [* Find the first address - visit the first planet and so on. [* Your goal is to find and complete an eight-digit address – to find out what secrets it holds. [* To do so you will have to travel around the planets, solve puzzles and also find the necessary energy sources to enter the address (each planet contains 1 battery - 7 in total) TIPS [* Whenever you come across a new gate address, you need to confirm it with a nearby switch [* Try not to die with a battery in your inventory - If that happens to you, you have no choice but to take one out of the CHEAT box. [* The grey button will reset what you have entered - full address or just a few entered symbols [* The white button on the book is your notes with addresses - so you don't have to remember them. [* Know that there is no order to travel between planets and it is entirely up to you what order you choose. Each planet is accessible from any other, as it should be. [* Travel isn't even tied to finding addresses to planets first - you can figure it out by trial and error (Good luck with that though). [* Creating a wormhole is so space-bending that you can expect a frame drop. [* Annoyingly, the same with breaking blocks for some reason. I guess it's the size of the map - some of the puzzles and logic (only one case I think) is designed around breaking blocks so... bear with it. [* If for some reason you find yourself in a wormhole and the exit gate is closed don't despair. For those cases there is a button on the inside of the gate. IF YOU WILL BE SO KIND [* I had absolutely no idea how to compose the sound of the creation of the wormhole, so it is what it is - if you have a better idea throw me a link in the comments for your creation in the workshop [* I will appreciate if you mention any bugs. 😊 I did my best to test everything, but... [/* GUIDE [* CHEAT Hard to miss and self-explanatory - The first switch will give you access to the 7 batteries - the second will reveal all addresses. No fun in that, cheater! [* EARTH There's a computer with three switches on the wall in the dialling room. After pressing them, it will give you the address to ABYDOS. The battery is in the back of the probe M.A.L.P. [* ABYDOS Four switches to open the rear room are hiding within eyes. Two statues, two murals. Hit the lightning bolt symbol on the right wall with the hammer to reveal the battery - the base of the sarcophagus. In the room you will find the address for HADANTE. The next address - VYUS - will be revealed to you after finding three fragments scattered around both rooms. [* VYUS Library. Here you will find the address to the planet SOLARIS and a familiar scene. You'll find the battery in plain sight yet hard to get. You'll find the trick in watching Scrapman's vid on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v HADANTE Rocks. Ultimately, you have to find your way to the dialing device. Two puzzles - both involving pressing the symbols in the correct order. You have to be precise and fast with the one in the little alcove or it will restart. With the one scattered around the planet you can take your time, but one wrongly chosen symbol and you'll be starting from square one too. Hadante, a planet where you come across the remnants of an ancient civilization that researched an eight-digit address. Key to the whole adventure. After solving the first two puzzles, you get access to a secret research facility. There you will find the battery and the address to the planet LANTEA. But also the first two colors to an eight-digit address hidden under two more puzzles - I'd say the two most challenging on the map. For both you have to match the symbol with the colour. I think the wire one is self-explanatory - find a path that lights all four at once - if you haven't turned any joints, all you should need to do is turn each one around by close to 360 degrees. The latter will require speed - you need to get the energy to the symbol and the corresponding color at the same time. First hit the symbol, then the color. [* LANTEA Water. You will find the battery in one of the four chests located on the map. Solve the column puzzle to reveal the next two colours to the eight-digit address. Rotate the cubes of the column so that the symbols match the symbols placed around the map - one side at a time. [* SOLARIS Desert. You have to excavate the dialing device out of the sand - the bump in front of the gate. The battery is hidden in one of the fruits of an alien plant - right corner of the map seen from the gate. There is a secret facility on the map. The button on the dead jaffa's wrist. Watch out for the defense robots. Kill two and after the third you can take the rings. The puzzle is simple, match the symbols with the correct colours and press the middle button. As a reward you get two more colours to the eight-digit address and the address to BELKAN. [* BELKAN Well. Dig the battery out of the rubble of the correct door. You have to remember the correct order of the symbols indicated by the flashing, and press them in that order. Don't worry a bad choice won't reset this puzzle. The reward is the last two colours to the eight-digit address. [* MYSTERY Charge the gate, enter the address and unveil what lies at the end of the universe. CREDITS There is an amazing creations from the workshop that I took the liberty take inspiration from for one of the planets and I feel they deserve a mention: [* Pharaoh's Hide and Seek by koboldart - link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2934477536
