Pashkov House
by Leviathan
The Pashkov House is one of the most beautiful and famous buildings in Moscow. A masterpiece of classical architecture, built by order of Pyotr Pashkov, the son of Peter I's orderly who became rich. It is widely believed that the author of the project was Vasily Bazhenov. No written evidence has survived, but many experts see Bazhenov's style in the regal appearance of this building. It is curious that initially, according to some sources, its walls were orange. The location for construction was not chosen by chance. Opposite is Borovitsky Hill and the Kremlin. The Pashkov House (however, it was much more often called the Pashkov House) became the first secular building in Moscow, from the windows of which one could see the Kremlin not from the bottom up. It forms a single whole with the high Vagankovsky Hill and seems to continue the line of the ascent. During Napoleon's invasion, the estate suffered greatly. Restored in 1815-1818, it acquired features of Moscow post-fire classicism. Architectural historians believe that this time Osip Bove himself worked on it. The mansion aroused universal admiration. The poet Mikhail Venevitinov called it "the most elegant building in all of Russia." The building does NOT require any MODS. The only thing you can wish for is good luck! Be patient and have time before linking this building...
