360° ball joint gyroscope [no mod]
by Tomatsu
This device is purely a sensoring device to help your craft orientate to a physical state of balance. Use the logic gates to trigger your own thrusters/suspension glitches to rotate your craft into that direction. This gyroscope is unique in that it will work in any rotation and that it will never break over time *as long as the core isn't touched*. Will also work in the largest creations where gyroscopes based on stabilizers fail. This gyroscope distinguishes 4 levels of angular offsets. 1. Perfect balance (0° to 1°) Only the sensor located inside the gyroscope's core is triggered. 2. Slight offset (1° to 15°) The light red logic gates are triggered. 3. Moderate offset (15° to 30°) The medium red logic gates are triggered. 4. Large offset (30° to 180°) The dark red logic gates are triggered. Tip: Use the light red logic gates to trigger only a fraction of your thruster/suspension glitch power. Medium red for medium power and dark red for max power. INSTALL NOTES - Only weld the bottom or the top of the gyroscope to your creation. Welding another side might break the gyroscope. - Make sure the gyroscope isn't rotated (Q key) into ANY other direction than the default direction, else the gyroscope won't work. - Most of the times the default welding rotation is the correct rotation. However that isn't always the case. If the default rotation (Q key) breaks the gyroscope, try another rotation (Q key). - Welding your creation to the gyroscope instead will ALWAYS work. - Do NOT build or weld anything onto the sensors. That will break the gyroscope. TIPS A gyroscope only indicates which axis in what direction needs to be rotated for it to achieve a state of equilibrium. Although this one also tells how far it's away from that physical state of balance, it doen't tell your craft if its correction speed is too fast. Too fast correction speed is noticable if your craft keeps swinging from one side to another too much. For your craft to be able to measure and do someting against it you need another instrument; an angular accelerometer! This device measure and lets you know if a pre defined rotational speed has been reached. By combining this with a gyroscope you can tell your craft to slow down its correction speed when that pre defined speed has been reached. Preferably, you disable all corrections when the speed limit has been reached, and within the 0 to 15 degree range you also create negative corrections so it really stops when your craft is almost perfectly stable.
